The Mike de Kock trained Janoobi stamped his ticket to a possible Dubai World Cup night outing when running a brave third in the G1 Jebel Hatta at Meydan racecourse on Super Saturday.

Racing in the famed Sheikh Hamden bin Rashid Al Maktoum silks, Janoobi stayed on resolutely for a third, beaten three parts of a length and a head, behind the Charlie Appleby trained Blair House and Benbatl, under the urgings of jockey Jim Crowley.

The winner, Blair House, an impressive course and distance winner at his previous outing, will now re-oppose Janoobi in the 2018 Dubai Turf.

The four-year-old Silvano colt, winner of the 2017 G2 Gauteng Guineas, proved doubts about his stamina all wrong with a gritty effort here, and he could well be aimed at further international contests later in the year.

Janoobi, who had won the G2 Zabeel Mile and been second in the G2 Al Fahid Fort at his previous two starts, now looks a likely runner in the G1 Dubai Turf on World Cup night at the end of March.

Unfortunately, the Brett Crawford trained Whisky Baron could only finish eighth in the 11th horse Jebel Hatta.

It later transpired that the 2017 G1 Sun Met winner had bled and this run is best ignored.
