Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, who has raced with great success in South Africa, was a leading buyer at the recent Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Among his buyers was the sales’ second top priced lot, a Fastnet Rock colt who sold for $4 000 000.
Sheikh Mohammed will race this colt in partnership with His Excellency Nasser Looteh.

The colt is out of the Gr1 winning mare River Dove, whose eights victories included the G1 Oakleigh Plate.

He is expected to race in Australia, and will be trained by leading Australian conditioner, John Hawkes.

Other lots purchased by the Sheikh at the Easter Sale included colts by Choisir, Fastnet Rock and Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown, and he also purchased a Medaglia D’Oro filly for $420,000.

Among the Sheikh’s top horses to have raced successfully at the highest level in South Africa are Bold Silvano, Igugu, Musir and Rocks Off.
