Levitan on a Winning Streak

RA Member Ian Levitan has been made the RA Owner of the Week after winning a double at the Vaal on 27 July and another win at Fairview the day after.

Plum British (owned in partnership with Mrs E J Rorke, Mr J E Finlayson and Mr P A Peter) won a MR66 Handicap over 1600 metres. The Paul Peter trained three year old gelding produced back to back wins under the ride of Mathew Thackeray. He was bred at Riverton Stud – Great Britain (GB) – Sweet Natasha by Russiann Fox (USA). The next race on the card, a FM85 Handicap over 1200 metres was won by 4 year old filly Spring Wonder. This three time winner is also from the Peter stable and was ridden by Weichong Marwing. Spring Wonder was bred at Maine Chance Farms – Querari (Ger) – Spring Ahead by Foshua Dancer. Fairview was Levitan’s next port of call when Kingston Warren (owned in partnership with Hedley McGrath) wo a Maiden Juvile Plate over 1000 metres.

Bezanova might have “taken a walk” in the betting for the KwaZulu-Natal Breeders Million Mile over 1600m at Greyville on Sunday, he still managed to hold on to the R625,000 first stake cheque in a close call.

Bezanova, who had run a 0.90-length third to Legislate in the 1600m Gold Challenge previously, when Durban July second favourite Futura was a neck behind him in fourth, opened at 13-10 in the betting but went through the stalls at 5-2 in the face of long-priced support for a few other runners.
