Bezanova might have “taken a walk” in the betting for the KwaZulu-Natal Breeders Million Mile over 1600m at Greyville on Sunday, he still managed to hold on to the R625,000 first stake cheque in a close call.

Bezanova, who had run a 0.90-length third to Legislate in the 1600m Gold Challenge previously, when Durban July second favourite Futura was a neck behind him in fourth, opened at 13-10 in the betting but went through the stalls at 5-2 in the face of long-priced support for a few other runners.
